Description

Smart Ready

Smart Ready is a future-ready infrastructure concept that makes smart living available from day one, while allowing each home to grow over time.

The basic PIERRE infrastructure is installed during construction or renovation, creating the foundation for smart home functionality without requiring a complete automation system to be purchased and installed upfront.

In residential projects, the concept can be implemented in buildings ranging from small apartment developments to large residential complexes. A PIERRE intercom and at least one PIERRE Display can be installed in every apartment. The Display provides the intercom interface and, with its built-in PIERRE Wave gateway, creates the foundation for future smart home expansion.

The result is a ready-to-expand smart home infrastructure: the building is prepared from the beginning, while the individual apartments can be upgraded according to the residents' needs and budget.

One Infrastructure – Multiple Levels of Smart Living

Not every resident needs the same level of automation.

One apartment may only need the intercom and a Display. Another may want lighting control and smart switches. A third may require heating and cooling control, blinds, sensors, access control or a complete smart home solution.

Smart Ready allows all of these levels to exist within the same building and infrastructure.

Residents can start with the functions they need and add more devices and features later, without replacing the basic infrastructure.

How It Works

1. Smart Ready Infrastructure

The required infrastructure is considered and prepared during the construction or renovation phase.

This may include:

  • PIERRE intercom infrastructure

  • PIERRE Display in each apartment

  • Wired infrastructure where required

  • Suitable electrical distribution and cabling

  • Network infrastructure

  • Space and capacity for future expansion

2. PIERRE Display as the Foundation

The PIERRE Display is more than an intercom screen.

It provides the resident interface while also acting as a PIERRE Wave gateway. This means that the apartment is already prepared for the addition of wireless PIERRE Wave devices.

Additional smart home functions can therefore be introduced later without major changes to the electrical installation.

3. Gradual Expansion

Residents can add functionality when they need it.

Examples include:

  • Lighting control and dimming

  • Smart switches

  • Sensors

  • Heating and cooling control

  • Shutters and curtains

  • Smart locks and access control

  • Energy monitoring

  • Additional automation and scenarios

The system can grow with the apartment and the resident.

Benefits for Everyone

For the Developer / Investor

Smart Ready provides a way to offer a modern, future-ready property without having to install a complete smart home system in every apartment from the beginning.

This can:

  • Reduce the initial investment per apartment

  • Avoid installing functionality that may never be used

  • Increase the property's technological value

  • Create an upgrade path for future residents

  • Make smart home functionality an optional value-added feature

The developer can therefore prepare the building once, while the smart home investment can happen progressively.

For the Resident

Residents are not forced to pay for a complete smart home system they may not need.

They can:

  • Start with the basic Smart Ready package

  • Choose which functions they actually need

  • Add devices later

  • Expand the system as their needs change

  • Avoid major renovation work when adding wireless devices

They only pay for the smart features they actually want.

For the Partner / System Integrator

Smart Ready creates an ongoing opportunity rather than a one-time installation.

The basic infrastructure is already in place, making it easier for the system integrator to introduce additional solutions to individual apartments over time.

This creates opportunities for:

  • Initial installation

  • Smart home upgrades

  • Additional devices

  • New functionality

  • Service and support

  • Future expansions

The partner can therefore build a long-term relationship with the resident instead of completing the entire sale at the time of construction.

A New Way to Deliver Smart Homes

Traditional smart home projects often follow an "install everything now" approach.

Smart Ready introduces a different model:

Prepare the infrastructure today.
Start with what is needed.
Expand when it makes sense.

The building is Smart Ready from the beginning, but the smart home does not have to be completed on day one.

This creates a scalable model where developers control the initial investment, residents control what they add, and system integrators gain a long-term upgrade opportunity.

Both Installation Methods Are Supported

PIERRE Pro – Wired

The electrical installation can be prepared for wired controllers, sensors and actuators. This approach is suitable when a complete wired automation system is planned, either immediately or in a later phase.

PIERRE Wave – Wireless

The apartment is prepared for future deployment of PIERRE Wave devices.

When a PIERRE Display is installed as part of the intercom system, its built-in Wave gateway provides the foundation for adding wireless smart home devices later.

Typical Applications

Smart Ready is particularly suitable for:

  • Residential developments

  • Apartment buildings and condominiums

  • New-build projects

  • Renovation projects

  • Multi-phase residential developments

  • Premium and mid-range residential properties

The Smart Ready Principle

One building.
One infrastructure.
Different levels of smart living.
Expansion when needed.

Smart Ready turns smart home automation from a one-time purchase into an expandable platform for the lifetime of the property.
