Overview
The PIERRE Wave Motion Sensor detects movement by passive infrared and reports it to the PIERRE system, where it can trigger lighting scenes, alarm states or notifications.
It gives a 90° detection angle with a radius of 8 m and is designed for wall mounting at approximately 2.2 m — the height at which the lens pattern covers a room without looking over the top of movement close to the wall.
It runs from a CR123A cell and reports low battery. The housing is rated IP20 and operates from -10 °C to +55 °C.
It communicates over PIERRE Wave (Zigbee 3.0, 2.4 GHz). Protection covers thermal, tamper, anti-flammable housing and surge.

2. System requirements
The PIERRE Wave (Zigbee 3.0, 2.4 GHz) system consists of the following components.
Required
- PIERRE Wave products: switches, modules, sensors, thermostats and other devices. They connect wirelessly to the gateway.
- Gateway: a PIERRE display and/or gateway. It links all PIERRE Wave devices and handles the communication with the app.
Optional
- Smart PIERRE app: control and monitoring from a smartphone or tablet. Not required for basic operation.
- Router: gives the gateway internet access for remote control.
Operation: the gateway connects to the router by Wi-Fi or LAN. PIERRE Wave products communicate wirelessly with the gateway in both directions: commands are sent and status updates are received through the Smart PIERRE app.
What you need
Zigbee gateway. Needs a PIERRE display acting as gateway or through The One gateway. Battery powered (CR123A).
3. Network setting
Power on the product.
Rotate the battery cover anticlockwise to open it.
Remove battery insulation film to power on the product. The red LED will flash slowly for self-checking
Press the reset button for 5s. The green LED will flash for network settings.

4. Installation
Valid detection area (side view): Up to 8 meters, with a 90° angle.
Valid detection area (top view): 90° coverage, up to 8 meters in length and 4 meters in width. The gray area indicates the valid detection zone.
Install the product where people may be detected crossing. It is recommended to install the product about 2.2 m above the ground, as shown in the figure below.
Remove the protective film from the adhesive on the base.
Mount the product on the magnetic base.
Note
- Ensure that there are no obstacles in front of the product’s lens. Otherwise, the detection result may be inaccurate.
- The wireless distance between detector and gateway will be shortened if there are obstacles such as walls.
Install the product away from objects that may cause temperature changes, such as the air conditioner, fan, refrigerator, and oven.

7. FAQ
Q1: What is the difference between presence and motion sensors?
A motion sensor detects movement and is ideal for high-traffic areas like hallways. A presence sensor detects whether a person is in the room, even if they are stationary, making it better for rooms like offices or living areas.
