Overview

The PIERRE Wave Temperature and Humidity Sensor gives the PIERRE system a measured room condition to act on — driving heating setpoints, ventilation, or a humidity alarm in a bathroom or plant room.

Accuracy is ±0.3 °C and ±0.3 % RH, which is tight enough to control from rather than merely display. It measures from -10 °C to +50 °C, and humidity up to 95 % RH.

It runs from a CR2450 cell and reports low battery, so it can be sited anywhere in a room without wiring. The housing is ABS in white.

It communicates over PIERRE Wave (Zigbee 3.0, 2.4 GHz). Being battery powered it does not route for other PIERRE Wave devices.

2. System requirements

The PIERRE Wave (Zigbee 3.0, 2.4 GHz) system consists of the following components.

Required

  1. PIERRE Wave products: switches, modules, sensors, thermostats and other devices. They connect wirelessly to the gateway.
  2. Gateway: a PIERRE display and/or gateway. It links all PIERRE Wave devices and handles the communication with the app.

Optional

  1. Smart PIERRE app: control and monitoring from a smartphone or tablet. Not required for basic operation.
  2. Router: gives the gateway internet access for remote control.

Operation: the gateway connects to the router by Wi-Fi or LAN. PIERRE Wave products communicate wirelessly with the gateway in both directions: commands are sent and status updates are received through the Smart PIERRE app.

What you need

  • A PIERRE display and/or gateway for the PIERRE Wave (Zigbee 3.0, 2.4 GHz) network. Requires CR2450 battery.

7. FAQ

Q1: Where should the sensor be installed?

At eye level (about 1.5 m), away from draughts, direct sunlight, heat sources and external walls.

Q2: How many sensors do I need?

One per room or zone where you want to measure or control temperature and humidity.

Q3: Does it need calibrating?

Not always. Calibrate if the reading disagrees with a reference thermometer, or if the sensor sits where electronics, sunlight or poor airflow affect it. In the Smart PIERRE app an offset can be set for the temperature and humidity values.

Q4: Where should the humidity sensor be placed?

Where moisture matters most (bathroom, kitchen, cellar), at head height and in free air. Do not hide it behind furniture or in a cavity; it needs airflow to measure correctly.
