Overview
The 10G SFP+ DAC cable is a 2 metre passive twinax copper assembly with SFP+ connectors moulded onto both ends, for short 10 Gigabit links inside a single rack or cabinet.
Because it is passive it needs no transceivers and draws almost no power, which makes it cheaper to deploy and cooler to run than a fibre pair plus optics over the same distance.
It carries 10.3 Gbit/s over 30 AWG conductors and operates from 0 °C to +70 °C.
Use it for switch-to-switch and switch-to-server links within a cabinet. A 5 m version is available as the SFP+ DAC cable; beyond that, move to fibre with SFP+ optics.
