On/Off Dimmable Light

Description

The Lights section of the Smart PIERRE app controls every lighting type in the system, from simple switched circuits to dimmable and colour-capable fittings.

The Light Card

  • Every light card on the Dashboard has three buttons: On, Auto and Off. On and Off are manual. Auto hands the light over to the rules set on it.
  • The card icon is lit while the light is on and grey while it is off. With Slide to confirm enabled, the app asks for a swipe before it switches, to prevent accidental taps.

Dimming and Colour

  • Dimmable lights, such as dimmed LED circuits or PWM-controlled lights, add a brightness slider.
  • RGB and RGBW fittings add a colour picker, and RGBW also a white channel.
  • A light can only be dimmed if the circuit and the light source support dimming. A switched circuit shows on/off control only, whatever the fitting is.

Editing a Light

Hold the card on the Dashboard, or open Menu, Settings, I/O and tap the light. The Edit tab has:

  • Name.
  • Photo On and Photo Off, taken from the library or camera, or chosen from the default images.
  • Slide to confirm.
  • Timeout, in hours, minutes and seconds. It applies in Auto only: after an automation has switched the light on, the light switches off by itself when this time has passed. Leave it at 0 for the light to follow the rule exactly.

Group and role are set when the light is created by the installer and are not changed here.

Automation

The Automation tab holds the rules, with an Automation Active switch that turns them all on or off without deleting them. Tap Add new Automation to add a time condition, a delay or an existing I/O such as a motion sensor, a door contact, a brightness sensor or a wall button. Conditions are joined with Or and And, and Add new Logical Brackets groups them. The rules run on the controller, so they keep working without an internet connection. Set the card to Auto for the rules to act.

Scenarios

Include lights in scenarios, for example switching every light off with a Good Night scene. A scenario sets the light to a stored state and does not restore the previous one.

Technical Notes

  • Check the Used In tab before renaming or removing a light, so scenarios and automations that reference it stay intact.
  • Partner users also see a Sync tab, used to keep several lights switching together; it is not shown to other users.
  • On/off and dimming events are listed in the Activity tab unless the installer hid them for that light.

Control of the Light

Controlling the Light is easy and efficient, all managed directly from the Dashboard.

Follow the example of the Hall lamp back.

Automate your Light in the PIERRE app by setting conditions based on the door Magnet Contact sensor and time. For example, the Light can automatically turn On when the Magnet Contact sensor detects the door opening, and only during specific hours, such as between 06:00 and 10:00. Or, additionally, the Light can also be activated manually by pressing a Button. This ensures the Light functions efficiently, turning On when needed, and allows manual control when required.

Used In for Light

The Used In tab shows all the scenarios and automations where the Light is applied, making it easy to see where this I/O is used without the need to search manually. If it isn't used in any, the list will be empty, and a message will display: "This I/O is not in use anywhere." This feature is particularly useful as it consolidates all relevant information in one place.
