Wiring Examples
Description
This page shows the recommended wiring for an office space built on the PIERRE Pro wired system. All systems — lighting, heating and cooling, and access control — are wired back to the controllers in the central cabinet.
Why Wired in an Office
An office is used every working day by people who did not choose the system, so core functions have to work without attention. Wired connections keep lighting, climate and access independent of any radio link.
Room-Level Examples
Conference Rooms
- Lighting circuits, with dimming where presentations are held.
- Blind and curtain motors, for controlling daylight during meetings.
- Heating and cooling interfaces.
Open Offices
- Lighting on presence and light level, so unoccupied zones are not lit.
- Heating and cooling zoned by area rather than for the whole floor.
Entrances and Common Areas
- Access control at the entrance doors, with readers wired to the controller.
- Corridor and stairwell lighting on motion.
Planning Notes
- Plan the cabinet for the controllers, power supplies and terminals, with reserve — office layouts change more often than residential ones.
- Use star wiring throughout, so a zone can be re-divided in software when the layout changes.
- Where an input influences an output — a reader and the door it opens — put both on the same controller.
- Agree with the client who administers access rights after handover.
