Description

This page shows the recommended wiring for a one-bedroom apartment built on the PIERRE Pro wired system. Everything controlled is wired back to the apartment's distribution board, where the controller sits.

What Runs to the Controller

  • Lighting circuits, including any circuit that will be dimmed.
  • Wall switches and buttons.
  • Blind and curtain motors.
  • Heating and cooling actuators, and the room temperature sensor.
  • The entrance door lock and the door contact.
  • Any socket that needs to be switched.

Wiring Principle

Star wiring: each point has its own cable to the board, with nothing looped from one point to the next. This is what allows the function of a switch or a circuit to be changed later in software instead of by rewiring.

Planning Notes

  • Size the distribution board for the controller, the power supply and the outgoing terminals, plus reserve. In a one-bedroom apartment board space is the usual constraint.
  • Keep low-voltage signal cables on a route separated from the mains cables.
  • Label every cable at both ends during the first fix.
  • Run spare cables to the positions most likely to be extended — the hallway, the entrance and the balcony door.
