Description

The Rain Sensors feature in the Smart PIERRE app provides effective monitoring for weather conditions. Users can manage the Rain sensor from both the Dashboard and the Menu.

Key benefits of the Rain sensor include:

1. Status Visibility:

  • The Rain sensor’s status is shown on the Dashboard with a green dot indicating that rain is detected and a gray dot indicating that no rain is detected, allowing users to monitor conditions in real time and take appropriate actions.

2. Long Press for Advanced Options:

  • A long press on the sensor icon provides access to the Edit and Used In tabs. The Edit tab allows for customizing the sensor’s name and picture, while the Used In tab displays all automations where the sensor is involved.

3. Automation Integration:

  • Rain sensors can be included in various automations to optimize the smart home environment. For example, when the Rain sensor detects rain, it can automatically turn Off the Irrigation system, ensuring water is not wasted during wet conditions.

The Rain Sensors feature integrates seamlessly with the PIERRE smart home system, providing a reliable and automated approach to weather-based actions, ensuring your home stays efficient and eco-friendly.

Description

Rain sensor has got two status indicators.

When rain is detected, green dot as indicator of this status is visible next to the Rain sensor, because Rain sensor is Active.

In this case Rain sensor in the backyard has green dot.

When rain is not detected, grey dot as indicator of this status is visible next to the Rain sensor, because Rain sensor is not Active.

In this case Rain sensor in the backyard has grey dot.

To edit the Rain sensor settings, follow next steps.

Scroll to the Rain sensors and tap on the card of the Rain sensor that you would like to edit, in this case on the Rain sensor in the backyard.

Edit following form:

  • Name - Edit name of the Rain sensor.
  • Photo - Choose the source of the photo.

Tap Submit/Done.

 

GOOD TO KNOW:

Rain sensor can be edited by long-press the Rain sensor card on the Dashboard or tapping it in the I/O list.

You have four options:

  • Open Library - The phone’s Library will open. 

  • Open Camera - You can take a picture using your smartphone. 

  • Choose default image - These images are prepared in advance in order  to provide a complete and seamless experience.

  • Remove image - Removes existing image.

Description

The Used In tab shows all the scenarios and automations where Rain sensor is applied, making it easy to see where this I/O is used without the need to search manually. If it isn't used in any, the list will be empty, and a message will display: "This I/O is not in use anywhere." This feature is particularly useful as it consolidates all relevant information in one place.

In this case Rain sensor is used in automations for: Drip and Drip in the front garden.

Automating an Irrigation System Based on Rain Sensor and Time
Description

Automate your irrigation system in the Pierre app by setting conditions based on the rain sensor and time. This ensures the system waters the garden only when needed, preventing unnecessary water use.

Edit Irrigation from the Dashboard
Find the Irrigation on the Dashboard

Open the Dashboard, find the Irrigation and log press its card.

In the Menu, under Settings, tap on the I/O.

Open I/O list, scroll to the Irrigations and tap on the card of the Irrigation, in this case on the Drip.

Tap on the tab Automation.

Tap the +Add Automation in order to add automation for the Irrigation.

In this case we will create automation for the Irrigation that will be active every day in period of time from 12 o'clock to 3 o'clock, when Rain sensor is inactive.

There is possibility to add:

  • New Time condition,
  • New Delay
  • Existing I/O.

Tap the New Time condition.

You should set Days, Start time and End time in this step.

Tap in the field of each of them to set them.

Select Days when the I/O will be active by clicking on the check box/check boxes next to the days from the list.

In this case select all days from Monday to Sunday.

Tap button Done.

Start time and End time fields will show you clock and icon of the keyboard in order to set these two parameters.

Tap the button OK. In case that you want to cancel it tap the button Cancel.

(Time conditions are used in auto mode or triggering I/Os activation/deactivation in a set time frame. It can be added as a part of the scenario or I/O in to Auto mode condition section.)

In order to add Rain sensor to this automation tap the +Add new Automation.

In this step you should add new item.

Tap the Existing I/O.

Scroll through I/O list and find desired I/O from the list.

Tap on the Rain sensor in order to add it to this automation.

Irrigation will be turned On in case that Rain sensor is not active.

Tap the button Not active.

Tap the button Save.

Tap And button.

You can use drag and drop to change the order of the I/Os on the list.

In this case both I/Os will be included, because we use And button.

Tap the button Done.
