Description

The Pierre Wired Contact Sensor is a crucial component of the Pierre smart home ecosystem, designed to monitor the status of doors, windows, and other entry points for enhanced security and automation. This sensor consists of two main parts: a sensor unit and a magnet, which work together to detect changes in door or window status.

Key Features:

    1.    Real-Time Door and Window Monitoring:
    •    Installed on the frame of doors or windows, the sensor detects when the entry point is opened or closed by sensing changes in the magnetic field created between the sensor and the magnet.
    2.    Wired for Reliable Performance:
    •    The wired variant ensures a continuous, stable connection to the system, providing real-time, uninterrupted updates on door and window status, crucial for security and automation functions.
    3.    Integration with Pierre Smart System:
    •    Once installed, the sensor can trigger automations such as locking doors, adjusting HVAC settings, or sending alerts. For example, if a window is opened, the system can reduce heating or cooling to conserve energy.
    4.    Discrete Design:
    •    Designed to be installed in window or door frames, the sensor is unobtrusive and does not impact the aesthetics of the home. It integrates seamlessly with other security devices within the Pierre ecosystem.
    5.    Security and Automation:
    •    The sensor enhances both security by triggering alarms or notifications in case of unauthorized access, and energy efficiency by automating climate control systems based on window status.

Troubleshooting
Has the device been added to the configuration?

If not: Add it in the PIERRE Partner application.

Have you tried activating and deactivating the contact sensor (opening and closing the window) again?

If not: Give it a try. If the sensor has been newly added, it needs a state change.

Is the the Contact sensor properly connected to the 12V and one of PIERRE's inputs?

If not: Connect it correctly according to the diagram.

To exclude the aforementioned possibilities, touch a piece of wire to connect the 12V to the Pierre's input where the Magnet Sensor is connected. If in application the dot turned green then everything is fine until that point, and it could be either the Magnet Sensor or the wire that is broken somewhere.

In which cases should Input and Output be added to the same Controller?

If one Input has influence on the Output they both should be added to the same Controller

For example in situation when one Motion sensor triggers a Lamp they should be add to the same Controller for best performances.

When should contact sensors be installed?

Pro contact sensors are typically installed during construction, as they require wiring within the walls. Wave contact sensors can be installed later, as they are wireless and easy to place.

Where should the contact sensor be placed?

The contact sensor should be installed so that the sensor and magnet are aligned when the door or window is closed. For windows, placing the sensor on the top allows it to detect even when the window is tilted open.

How should the sensors be wired?

Each sensor (motion, light, contact, etc.) should be individually wired to the PIERRE control cabinet in a star pattern.
